Biography and Education
Fr茅d茅ric Brunel is Professor and Dean of the College of Business at the University of Michigan Dearborn. Prior to joining UM-Dearborn in July 2023, Frederic spent 26 years at the Questrom School of Business at Boston University, as a member of the Marketing faculty and as Associate Dean for the Undergraduate Programs.
As a scholar, Fr茅d茅ric is a consumer researcher dedicated to informing consumer relationships and product design. These include, for example, consumption communities on- and off-line, word-of-mouth dynamics and customer relations management, aesthetic response styles, and skill sets. Fr茅d茅ric has published in leading journals such as Journal of Consumer Research and Journal of Consumer Psychology. His research has also appeared in book chapters, managerial articles, and in a series of articles in conference proceedings. Fr茅d茅ric has presented his work in numerous venues and conferences. Fr茅d茅ric is a past treasurer of the Association for Consumer Research. His work has been used by some of the largest corporations and he is regularly quoted and interviewed in a wide array of print, radio, TV, and electronic media outlets.
Professor Brunel has taught at all levels: undergraduate, MBA, doctoral, and executive programs. Fr茅d茅ric has extensive international teaching experience, including Europe, Latin America, and Asia. Over the years, his commitment to higher education has been recognized through several research, teaching, and service awards. He is a frequent speaker at education conferences and forums.
