UM-Dearborn Department of Public Safety is a full service law enforcement agency, providing emergency and non-emergency response campus wide 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. UM-Dearborn DPS officers patrol campus buildings, parking lots and other campus grounds. Patrols are conducted by officers on foot, on bike and in motor vehicles 24 hours a day, seven days a week year-round.

- Crime prevention and security awareness programs

UM-Dearborn provides a holistic suite of resources for survivors of sexual assault or sexual abuse. Some of the primary resources, assistance, and information provided by the university include:
- Assistance in reporting to the Department of Public Safety, DPS (on campus), or to Dearborn Police or other appropriate law enforcement agency, as well as information and help initiating university proceedings.
- Confidential information and support through the Counseling and Psychological Services.
- Student Life has additional resources that can support students.
- For Information on preserving evidence, reporting options, campus and local resources, please see the Our Community Matters Resource Guide.
- The Equity, Civil Rights, and Title IX Office (ECRT) may be able to assist students with academic accommodations, such as rescheduling exams, adjusting class schedules to avoid contact with the respondent, etc.
- ECRT may be able to assist employees with a change in work situations, such as relocation to provide a more private or secure location, additional security measures, etc.
- Ability for the university to implement no-contact instructions
- Escorts by the campus Department of Public Safety between classes, to vehicles, and to other university activities

Incidents can be reported by submitting a report online, via email to [email protected] or by phone at (313) 436-9194. The office is staffed Monday 鈥 Friday, 8 a.m. 鈥 5 p.m. Incidents reported outside of business hours will be responded to as quickly as possible, but may not be received until the following business day.
The university strongly encourages anyone who believes they experienced a sexual assault (or any other crime) to make a report to the UM-Dearborn Department of Public Safety.

The Avalon Healing Center provides those affected by sexual assault with immediate and ongoing comprehensive services (including medical forensic exams, counseling, and advocacy and crisis intervention), at no cost. Avalon encourages survivor healing and empowerment, promotes public awareness, and leads social change.

Since 1978, First Step has been working for peaceful families and safe communities in Wayne County, Michigan. First Step provides comprehensive services for victims of domestic and sexual violence.

Survivors of Violence Empowerment Programs provides services and assistance to survivors of crime. The programs serve Southeast Michigan counties, including Wayne, Macomb, and Oakland counties. The programs assist clients with mental health recovery and justice by providing counseling, psychiatric services, case management, transitional housing, and legal
services.

UM-Dearborn Department of Public Safety prepares the Annual Security Report to comply with the . Campus crime, arrest and referral statistics include those gathered via incident reports within our department as well as statistics reported to the UM-Dearborn Department of Public Safety via Campus Security Authorities (CSAs) and statistics received from local law enforcement agencies.
The Annual Security Report contains Crime Statistics for the Main Campus and Fairlane Center. More can be found on our Department of Public Safety site.
UM-Dearborn Department of Public Safety website and this Annual Security Report (ASR) report contain information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, fire safety, university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to safety and security on campus. This report also contains information about crime statistics from the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the 每日大赛; and on public property within campus boundaries, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.

UM-Dearborn strictly prohibits all forms of hazing by students, student organizations, faculty and staff. 鈥淗azing鈥 means any intentional, knowing, or reckless act committed by a person against another person, regardless of the willingness of the other person to participate, when that act is committed in the course of initiation, affiliation, or maintenance of membership in a student organization and the act causes or creates a risk or physical or psychological injury. Hazing is forbidden in any campus-related activity, on or off University property and online if it threatens campus members. The policy aligns with federal and state laws, including Garret鈥檚 Law, which makes hazing a criminal offense. The University Policy Against Hazing includes detailed information about the policy鈥檚 scope, definitions, how to report hazing, and the investigation process.
The Department of Public Safety tracks campus crime and safety data, and that data is available in the . Statistics regarding hazing will be included in the annual security report and be available in a Campus Hazing Transparency Report, which will include a summary of hazing incident findings concerning any established or recognized student organization found to have violated University standards of conduct relating to hazing as defined by the hazing policy.
The Division of Student Affairs prepares the Campus HazingTransparency Report in collaboration with other campus departments. The Campus Hazing Transparency Report will be updated biannually.
The first report will be available by December 23, 2025, should there be any instances of hazing.
