What will they come up with next?

Last year, ÿ�մ��� students enrolled in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters (CASL) researched a variety of topics ranging from Socrates to chimpanzees.

It was all part of the CASL Undergraduate Student Research Showcase.

“Engaging students to research and develop groundbreaking technologies is a cornerstone at Sargon,” said Jeff Golota, UM-Dearborn alumnus and Sargon founder. “Our approach is to encourage and develop entrepreneurial talent in technology.”

Golota’s passion for research is evident through his company, Sargon Partners, a venture capital firm that specializes in business development of start-up and entrepreneurial businesses. Sargon Partners’ approach differs from traditional venture capital firms because the firm invests in entrepreneurial individuals who can build entrepreneurial teams into transformative companies. Sargon Partners provides both capital and the start-ups’ core business technology to these unproven teams to truly effect change in the sectors they target.

Golota hopes CASL students will continue to pursue their passion for research, in an effort to further diversify themselves in preparation for the working world. Students will have a chance to do just that when they present their research projects, either on posters or through multimedia, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 22 in the University Center’s Kochoff Hall.

Like Golota, CASL Dean Jerold Hale understands the importance of research-based projects.

“Our campus takes seriously the teacher-scholar model,” Hale said. “One important facet of that model is engaging our students in the research process. We are excited to have Sargon Partners join us in promoting this model among our students.”
