Alternative Assignments Quick Reference Guide

You may choose to complete Alternative Assignments (AAs) to earn credit toward completing your Subject Pool requirement. This quick reference guide outlines steps to successfully complete an AA.

Each AA is worth 1 credit. Please note the deadline date for submitting all AAs on the Subject Pool Webpage.

  1. Find a journal article by using the

    Your chosen article must meet the following criteria:

    1. The referenced journal article must have been published within the last 6 MONTHS.
    2. The referenced journal article must focus on human subject research.
  2. Download a copy of the article and read it to gain understanding of the research.
  3. Summarize the research using the following instructions:
    1. The AA must contain 300-500 words, not including the citation or the header.
    2. The format must mirror the format of the Sample AA paper and include the following sections:
      1. Introduction
      2. Methods
      3. Results
      4. Discussions/Limitations
    3. The AA must include a complete citation in APA format, which includes the:
      1. Authors of the article
      2. Article title
      3. Journal title
      4. Date of publication
    4. Please remember that AAs must be original work that is written in your own words.

4. Submit your AA and an electronic copy of the corresponding journal article to Dr. Junghee Yoon at [email protected] or [email protected]. You can either attach your files or provide SharePoint link to access your files. Title your file with your name, course section number, and assignment number. Example: JoeSmith_001_AA1.

5. Your AA will be reviewed within a week after the submission and the credit will be added to your SONA account. We will email you if there鈥檚 any problem accessing your files. Please respond promptly if you receive a request for resubmission from us. Late submission and failure to submit your AA on time can cause incomplete grade.
